Kevin Rakin is the CEO of Advanced BioHealing. Before joining Advanced BioHealing, he was an executive in residence at Canaan Partners. Prior to Canaan he was cofounder, President, and
Chief Executive Officer of Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded pharmacogenomics company that was acquired by Clinical Data, Inc. in 2005. Mr. Rakin
serves on the boards of Omrix BioPharmaceuticals, Inc. and Vion Pharmaceuticals Inc. He is the past Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Connecticut United
for Research Excellence (CURE).
Mr. Rakin received a BS in business and an MS in finance from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and an MBA from Columbia University.
Stephen Bloch is a venture partner with Canaan Partners and has been with the firm since 2002. His investment
interests include biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device, and healthcare infrastructure companies. Dr. Bloch is also a
board member of Amicus Therapeutics, Marinus Pharmaceuticals, Omnisonics, and Viacor. Prior to joining
Canaan, he founded Radiology Management Sciences and was a cofounder of TeleRad, a teleradiology services
company.
Dr. Bloch received his medical degree from the university of Rochester, an MA in history of science and public policy from Harvard university, and an AB in history from Dartmouth College.
David Dantzker is the general partner of Wheatley MedTech Partners, LP. Prior to this position, he was the President
of the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System and is the former Chairman of the American Board of Internal
Medicine.
Dr. Dantzker earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his pulmonary and critical care training at the University of California at San Diego. He has held faculty positions at the University of California, the University of Michigan, the University of Texas, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he is presently a Professor of Medicine.
Gary Kurtzman is Vice President of Life Sciences at Safeguard Scientifics. He is responsible for identifying and partnering with entrepreneurial companies focused on molecular diagnostic, medical devices, and specialty pharmaceuticals. Dr. Kurtzman was previously Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at BioAdvance, a company focused on funding early-stage life sciences companies. A board certified internist with a hematology subspecialty, Dr. Kurtzman is widely published and currently teaches for the Health Care Systems Department of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He earned his medical degree from Washington University and Stanford University and his BS from Stanford University.
Carol Winslow has spent more than 25 years in the medical technology industry, including 17 years of private
and public medical technology investment experience. Prior to founding Channel Medical Partners, Ms. Winslow
was the Senior Medical Device Analyst at Jefferies & Company, Inc., Vector Securities International, Inc.,
and Dain Bosworth Incorporated with responsibility for those firms' equity research activities within medical
technology industry. Earlier in her career, Ms. Winslow held a variety of management positions with Medtronic,
Inc. She serves on the board of directors of several private and public medical technology companies in Channel's investment
portfolio.
She received an AB degree from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
